Tea time!

So maybe it’s weird that I pick up presents now and then for my future children, but sometimes things are just too cute to pass up! I found this little tea set at our local tea room, Attic Secrets. (If you’re ever in Marysville, WA, check them out - lovely place). But how adorable is this?! The little plates have a flower and bunny design which may not have come through in the photos. Looking forward to many, many tea parties with the little girl we’re dreaming of having someday.

Maris is ready to move…

So glad we got the suitcases down to pack in…

How my evenings go…

An older photo but this is generally what I put up with. My armrests areĀ not there for my own use…oh no, no, no…they are the throne for my spoiled little cat. A launching place, if you will, for her tyrannical demands for attention, playtime, and food. Also a stepping stone for prancing about on my keyboard…

Our (new!) apartment in Tokyo..err..Chiba, Japan!

image

Our wee little kitchen. No full size ovens in Japan (you buy them - they’re microwave size and sit on your counter). Ridiculously large sink though and a “fish oven” - think a 6” x 12” x 4” deep broiler that (duh) is strictly for broiling fish.

image

Our living room and a pudgy gaijin! You can see a little bit of the balcony too. Bad craftsmanship knows no nation - whoever laid the laminate floors had no idea that buckles, squeaks, and rolls are bad, bad things for floors.

image

But! It does have a traditional Japanese Room (seriously…it’s what they call it) complete with tatami flooring, sliding paper (seeming - I think they’re plastic) walls and traditional-style closets. And both of those rooms look out onto a balcony with this view.

image

Where you can see that pudgy lil gaijin again, a little bit of the river that runs by the place, and what you can’t see (thanks, cloudy day) is the weee tiny sliver of Tokyo Bay that you can just glimpse off in the distance. But the entire place does smell like the sea <3

image

Is that not the most awesome closet you’ve ever seen? I know it’s for futons - but I can’t help but tease andy that it’s going to open one day to the vengeful ghost of an angry housewife.

image

And oh. my. god. the bath…the bath!!! That gray area is a shower - which is in front of a full length mirror? Evidently the Japanese like to watch. ;3 hehe And the tub is really more like a whirlpool or a deep soaking tub here stateside. It’s short but deep..perfect for tired housewives.

image

See what I mean? They must really like to watch…

image

And look at those handsome foreigners! So exicted about the prospect to move to Chiba! Or at least willing to stand still, smile, and fake it while in their head plays the mantra of ‘oh my god, get me back to my hotel and air-conditioning!’ Seriously! A word of warning - Tokyo is Florida-lite! Very humid, very warm. Imagine walking around Disney World in Mid July and how you’d feel at the end of the day after your jeans have chafed and your ankles have swollen and boom :3 the experience of walking around Tokyo in mid July is yours!

So..I own a cat. She likes to get into things. I made her a cuddle sack..she doesn’t care for it much. I own an old basket…she doesn’t care for it much. I combine the two…put it in nip-reach of my houseplant…magic.

Tasty Tears

I know this makes me a petty person, but this image made me so happy!

My new keety! Maris adopted me after deciding the great outdoors was no place for a lady. She’s finally gained enough weight back that she looks like a real cat again. :)

This little guy flew into our garage and entertained my husband for a bit. He was kind enough to stay for a brief photography session before heading on his way.
